Mail Out: Gail D. Whitter, Artists Book Project, Trail, BC, CANADA
A visual from my mailing to a Book Project that Gail is putting together for early in the new year . . . The ghosts of studio J ArtSpace are having a grand time with their various incarnations into mail art . . if only they could install a heater for the winter months in there. It makes for a shorter workday when the fingers can't thaw out fast enough to make the next marks on paper or cut out the next image in my collage. Still making the most of what time there is . . See you in the mail. M.

Edition of 50 now on its way to Keith.
FLUXKIT
Theme: Fluxkit is now on it's 5th issue and I am hoping for a few more pieces to finish it out. I'm planning on another 4 issues this year, and if your work hasn't shown up in one yet, it's coming.
Size/Format: If you're interested, send small objects / multiples / images in an edition of 50 - I'd really like to see a wide variety - maybe even sound or video work on cd .
Please insure that the work contains your name, signature or stamp so that we know who it's from, - It could be a fun project, and a way for us all to connect a little more.
Documentation: As your work is included, you get a full copy as well. A complete kit will be sent to everyone who contributes, along with a list of participating artists.
Archives: We have people who will archive the editions.... I had a great meeting this week with the curator at the Contemporary Museum in Chicago , they have put a copy of every issue in their permanent collection, and are continuing to archive as we publish new kits - also the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, Petersen Archive in Copenhagen, and 17 others worldwide !!! lets keep this going !!!!

A Book About Death, Queens, NY, USA
FYI
Louise Weinberg is putting up a selection of the artists' postcards created especially for A Book About Death collaborative project up at the Queens Museum of Art as one of a trio of exhibitions celebrating the Day of the Dead. The exhibition opens on November 1st and runs through November 15. A reception will be held on November1st from 3 to 6pm.
Selections from "A Book About Death" is an artists' collaborative project conceived by collage artist Matthew Rose (an American living and working in Paris) for the Emily Harvey Foundation in New York City where the original exhibition took place from September 10 - 22, 2009. Over 500 artists contributed 500 postcards each created from artworks made especially to create an unbound book about death in homage to Ray Johnson (father of mail art), a celebration of Emily Harvey, and a global exploration of how we celebrate memory and death. The only requirement was to include the words "a book about death" somewhere on the card. Since then, the exhibition has traveled to the Otis College of Art and Design in LA, and to the Mobius Gallery in Boston, MA, as well as becoming part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the LA County Museum of Art Research Library. The Queens Museum is presenting a selection of cards from the exhibition and are also asking the community, in an artist-led workshop, to create their own postcard about death and add it to the exhibition.
To be included in this exhibition, make a postcard and send it to: L. Weinberg, Queens Museum of Art, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368.

There may be satellite spaces beyond the Harris-Warke Gallery, and all work that fits our guidelines will be shown in one of these exhibit sites.
Art should be postmarked on or before September 23, 2009.

4. If you wish to receive information about the exhibit (which will be sent in November/December of 2009), include your email address with your submission.
5. Please indicate your first name and the city in Canada or the country in which you live.
