What can you say about “labour” and “work”? If a picture is worth a thousand words – maybe you’d like to put your thoughts down on a 5″x 7″ postcard and mail to Ed Varney for a Mayworks Mail Art Exhibition on Vancouver Island.

We are planning a few collage workshops in the Downtown Eastside to facilitate creating mail art on this theme.

Our volunteers arrive with materials, glue, scissors and time to hang out while we “create community through art.”

Objet d'art
The Councillorship for Culture of the Municipality of Quiliano in collaboration with SACS (Space of Contemporary Experimental Art) organize a mail art project, which title is Im[m]agine, about the “objet d’art” (art object).

The theme Im[m]agine allows the artist to spread his/her freest imagination to show the brightest and most wonderful aspects of the mail art.

We invite the artists to create a small art object which sixe will not be larger than cm. 30x21x10 (any larger-sized object will be excluded from the project).

MAIL ART CALL: Self Portrait in Trinidad & Tobago

Open call to participate in the first mail art exhibition in Trinidad.
The postcards received will be exhibited, so are asking artists, non-artists to submit their artwork.

Requirements and Details of submission
Topic of the project: Self-portrait
is a glance of what you reflect, how do do you want to be seen, remembered, the traits that define you from a personal point of view.

• Postcards should be approximately 13 x 18 cms (app. 5 x 7) Send without envelope, with stamp. 

• There is no required technique (photograph, painting, collage, mixed media, etc). However postcards should be durable enough to travel by mail, and shouldn't be too heavy or delicate 

• On the back of the postcard, please include your full name, age, country, address and email address. 

• Include a brief description or phrase of the theme.

Deadline: 
Postcards will be accepted until December 23th, 2011 to be exhibited on January 2012.

2nd International Mail Art Exhibition in Nyiracsád

The local government of Nyíracsád and Ligetalja Tourist Association are inviting mail art applications. Those pieces of art are to be sent that can be delivered by post.  The works will not be sent back but become the property of Nyíracsád and lodged in Than Mór Mail Art Museum, where they will be constantly exhibited in a 2-3 months rotation.

Themes:
1. Enchanting women
2. The wonderful world of tales

There is no constraint regarding the technique.

We accept:

Paintings: oil, aquarelle, gouache, tempora, etc
Graphics: pen, pencil, chalks, pastel, etc
Fine-Art prints: copper, wooden, metal, lino or plastic etching, intaglio
Other: collographia, serigraphia, glassware, mosaic, jewels, leather artworks, origami, enamel, etc
